OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2008. An unprecedented exhibition “Russian vanguard”, organized by AsiaUniversalBank in the framework of the large-scale cultural program “For all times”, reported the press-centre of AUB.

For the first time the residents of Kyrgyzstan will get an opportunity to learn more about one of the brightest phenomena of art of XX century that was called “Russian vanguard”, and to see original canvases by Kazimir Malevich, Vasily Kandinsky, Lubov Popova, Alexandra Exter, David Shterenberg and many other masters of vanguard painting. “Russian vanguard” exhibition is one more present made by AsiaUniversalBank to the country.

An exhibition of masters of Russian vanguard was planned in the Kyrgyz Republic several years ago, but then Kyrgyzstan didn’t have a museum that would meet high international standards on illuminance, surface quality, temperature conditions, video surveillance, and that’s why there was no any possibility to organize such event. AsiaUniversalBank decided to bear all the expenses on the reconstruction of Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts. And only after the reconstruction of the museum hall to the level appropriate for placement of world art masterpieces, AUB started organizing this grandiose exhibition.

“By bringing well-known paintings, which have never been exhibited in the country, we want to astonish our countrymen, noted Mikhail Nadel, the Chair of the Board of Directors of OJSC “AsiaUniversalBank”.- Taking such an initiative we tried not only to provide aesthetic enjoyment for citizens of Kyrgyzstan, but promote cultural enlightenment of the society. AUB always takes an active part in the social life of the country and renders assistance to development of culture and arts.”

To organize the exhibition “Russian vanguard in Kyrgyzstan” AsiaUniversalBank brought to the country twenty valuable and world-known original paintings from the collections of Russian museums. The paintings were not chosen randomly – this selection best of all allows feeling the spirit of that short historical period, called “Russian vanguard”.

“Russian vanguard” is a phenomenon of art that is not related to any specific artistic program or style. In Russian art of the prewar years of 1907-1914 the separate radical innovative tendencies began to form artistic vanguard, which marked a break off with academic traditions and aesthetics of the XX century. The time frame of Russian vanguard extends from the end of modern style epoch to the moment of strengthening of “socialist realism” integrated art conception.

A common feature of all Russian vanguard trends was absolute renunciation of cultural heritage, negation of continuity artistic creative work. Russian vanguard has equally substantial destructive and creative roots: nihilism combines with creativeness, aimed at creating of something new in the in essence. These pioneering art phenomena was specified by the terms “modernism”, “new art”, “futurism”, ”cube futurism”, “leftist art” and others.

“Russian vanguard in Kyrgyzstan” art exhibition is of great importance for cultural life of the country, as for the first time such a large-scale event takes place in Central Asia, noted Yuristanbek Shygayev, a well-known Kyrgyz artist, the Director of Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts after Gapar Aitiyev. – Even in the famous Tretyakov Gallery one can not see the entire collection of Russian vanguard, assembled at one place, it has just separate works. In this case Kyrgyzstan citizens have a unique opportunity to see an integrate collection of original paintings, which allows to form a perfect idea of what Russian vanguard is”.

“Russian vanguard in Kyrgyzstan” art exhibition will last till December 20, 2008.
