OREANDA-NEWS  On 04 December was announced, that the Crimean soda plant (KSOD), the largest producer of soda ash in Ukraine, completed reconstruction of its filtration station. Oleksandr Khalin, the chairman of the board of the plant, announced this to the press. "On November 10, we signed a document on commissioning of the fourth vacuum filter. The reconstruction gives the plant opportunities to produce soda of the best world quality. Also, the introduction of the new vacuum filter will cut spending on technical servicing of equipment and extend the service life of equipment. The Crimean soda plant started the reconstruction of its filtration station in January 2008. The plant finished the first stage of reconstruction of its filtration station in June. During the first stage, two old vacuum filters have been replaced for fast-moving vacuum filters of EMDE type (Germany). Around EUR 3 million has been invested in the reconstruction. The Crimean soda plant covers 80% of the need of the Ukrainian domestic market and 2.5% of the world market of soda ash. The plant produces soda ash of type A (heavy) and type B (light).
