“As of December 1, 2008, 88.8 per cent from the annual plan for housing overhaul have been completed. So, over 1,500 houses have been repaired in Moscow. The plan has been fulfilled completely in the central district of Moscow, 99 per cent have been done both in the western and southeastern ones. The most backward district is northwest Moscow, it has fulfilled 61 per cent of scheduled work,” the official noted.

According to Mr Keskinov, 37 per cent of the Moscow buildings are being repaid fully in 2008, next year this index is to reach 100 per cent. The total number of houses to be overhauled in 2009 will become known anon.

Earlier it was informed that 56 million sq m of housing were planned to be overhauled in Moscow in 2009.

“The 2009 program will be harder to implement as 45 per cent of houses to be repaired during this period has individual designs while only 4 per cent of such houses have been overhauled in the current year,” the head of Department for Housing Overhaul of Moscow added.

According to the urban program aimed at overhauling blocks of flats scheduled for the period from 2008 to 2014, 13,787 houses with the total area of 117.5 million sq m are to be repaired in Moscow where 32,000 houses with the total area of 214 million sq m are located.
