OREANDA-NEWS. December 05, 2008. In January-October 2008, the volume of wine produced by Moldovan wineries amounted to 1,609 billion leis (US155,3 million), exceeding the data of the same period of 2007 by 36,1%.

As InfoMarket agency was informed in the National bureau of statistics, for 10 months of 2008 production of distilled alcohol drinks in cash has increased by 34% - up to 411,8 million leis (\\$39,7 million).

The experts explain this growth by the resumption of the wine export to Russia since November l, 2007 after cancellation of the ban. As it was informed before, in 2007 production of wine in Moldova has reduced by 29,5%-up 1 billion 633,8 million leis (US 144,7 million at NBM’ s exchange rate that time) and production of distilled alcohol drinks- by 22% - up to 445,6 million leis (US 39,5 million).

It can be reminded that in late March 2006 Russia has imposed the ban for the export of Moldavian winemaking goods. Till March 2006 Russia exported up to 80% of all Moldavian wines and cognacs. The ban imposed in 2006 resulted in reduction of Moldavian export by 5,5 times in comparison with 2005.
