OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2008. DTEK, the leader of the fuel and energy industry of Ukraine, has published its 2007 Social Report. DTEK has become the first Ukrainian company in the industrial sector to publish such a document. The report ‘Energy of a Leader: the Social Dimension’ has been presented at a corporate governance conference of DTEK in Donetsk.

The main part of the document consists of three sections in line with the key areas of corporate social responsibility (CSR) that the Company has set before itself:
commitment to local communities in the regions where DTEK’s enterprises operate (the Company’s effective and long-term contribution to the social and economic development of those territories),
commitment to employees (optimal conditions for their development and career growth; adequate appreciation of the contribution of each employee to the common success; safest possible working environment),
commitment to society as a whole, to current and future generations (strive for reduction of the environmental impact of DTEK’s operating enterprises due to introducing safe and modern production technologies).
The Report has been prepared in conformity with the international non-financial reporting standards: Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and АА1000 series. Independent verification of the 2007 Social Report of DTEK has been conducted by the audit company Ernst and Young.

‘2007 was a year of intensive introduction of the CSR concept into the Company’s everyday activities. We formed a framework for systematic approach to social investments, launched important  and innovative social partnership programmes in the regions of our operations. We have also joined the UN Global Compact, a universal framework of social responsibility principles that we fully share and support’, commented the CEO of DTEK, Maxim Timchenko.
