According to the National Bureau of Statistics, which does not take into account export-import transactions of Transnistrian enterprises not officially registered in Moldova, for 10 months of 2008 the volume of Moldovan export amounted to US 1 billion 353.8 million, increasing by 27% in comparison with the same period of 2007.

The volume of import to Moldova totaled US 4 billion 100.6 million, having increased by 41,4% as compared to the same period of the last year. At the same time, export to CIS countries grew by 20.8% - up to US 532 million.

Export to EU countries increased by 30.3%- up to US 695.5 million. Import from CIS states grew by 35.2% - up to US 1 billion 421.1 million and from EU countries- by 36.8% - up to US 1 billion 804.6 million.

In January-October, 2008, trade balance deficit of Moldova with EU countries has increased by 41.2% - up to US 1 billion 109,1 million and with CIS states- by 45.6% - up to US 889.1 million.

The largest negative trade balance of Moldova was registered with Ukraine (US 588.5 million), followed by: China (US257.2 million), Germany (US 253.3 million), Romania (US 239.1 million), Russia (US 232.6 million), Turkey (US 167.5 million), Italy (US 111.6 million) and Belarus (US 96.3 million).
