OREANDA-NEWS  On 15 December was announced, that Moscow Domodedovo International Airport and Aeroexpress company signed a “protocol of intent”. Both companies confirmed their positions concerning increase of the level of services for passengers traveling through Domodedovo airport and on Aeroexpress trains.

The document signed highlighted the main stages of cooperation between the companies:

modernization of objects on the Paveletsky station, including reconstruction of facilities of the terminal itself and installation of supplementary technological equipment, building a protective roof over the platform at Paveletsky station and also large-scale plans for construction of a railway “Aeroexpress” terminal in Domodedovo airport.

The general area of buildings and facilities of the complex, including the terminal and the railway platform will amount to 11 600 sq.m. The terminal will have a waiting area for 100 people, commercial and production facilities. The pre-project works will sum up to 44 million rubles in cost. The Aeroexpress terminal will service over 41 thousand people daily. Preparation and realization of the project was started in November 2008 the terminal is planned to be put into operation by December 2010. Partners to Aeroexpress on this project are ASSMAN, Sivas and Mosgeldorproject.

All old Aeroexpress trains are planned to be replaced with new more comfortable and spacious ones (ED-4-M series) in the first half of January 2009. The first of these trains will start operating in January 2009.

In cooperation with the Directorate of Railway Stations there are plans for building a protection roof over the railway tracks and platform on the Paveletsky station at a total cost of over 60 million rubles. The works are planned for the second half of 2009. This is a part of the “Russian Railroads” program of complex development of railway stations and their infrastructure that is planned to be completed by 2030.

Vladimir Petrov, General Director of Aeroexpress, notes that “despite the world economical crisis we do not think that it is right not to look into the future. Today, upon signing this important document with our partner – Domodedovo airport we have laid a foundation for our further development and prosperity. Apart from strategic issues we have made a big step towards establishing timely cooperation between departments of our companies responsible for informational support, reacting in emergencies, implementation of new technologies. All this is done in order for us to achieve our key goal – providing our passengers quality, contemporary and timely services.”

In 2009 Aeroexpress is planning on transporting over 5 million passengers between Domodedovo airport and Paveletsky station, that means every 4 th passenger flying from Domodedovo.
