OREANDA-NEWS  On 16 December was announced, that the Investment Council under the Governor of the Nizhni Novgorod Region approved of an application by OJSC Verkhne-Volzhskaya Generiruyuschaya Kompaniya (The Upper-Volga Generating Company) to construct a gas-vapor combined heat and power station in the Kstov Region.

Verkhne-Volzhskaya Generiruyuschaya Kompaniya’s plan is to construct the combined heat and power station in the Nizhni Novgorod Region to meet international standards. According to the project, the electric capacity of the plant is 900 mW, and its thermal capacity is 840 Gcal/hour. Electricity shall be traded on a wholesale market. The thermal energy is intended for new residential areas under construction in the south-east of Nizhni Novgorod and the “Ankudinovka” IT Park.

The plant’s construction time is confined with the rate of residential and industrial construction in the regional center. The first stage of the plant (to be located at the territory of the former Gorki Nuclear Thermal Plant) is planned to be complete by 2012. The Project’s cost estimate would be determined after the Project has been approved and a tender to select a main contractor has been finished.

OJSC Verkhne-Volzhskaya Generiruyuschaya Kompaniya was established in April of 2008 by the Government of the Nizhni Novgorod Region and ITERA Oil and Gas Company, LLC with a view of implementing this Project. Nizhnegorodski Proizvodstvenno-Energeticheski Komplex (Nizhni Novgorod Production and Energy Complex), a state enterprise, and ITERA Elektra, LLC (ITERA-Electra, LLC), and affiliate of ITERA Oil and Gas Company, LLC, are its founders.
