OREANDA-NEWS  On 18 December Interpipe announced that it had supplied 5,000 railway wheels to Georgian railway carriage maker Rustavskiy. In total, Interpipe will supply 20,000 wheels during the next four months after an agreement was signed at the end of November 2008. Interpipe’s wheels will be used to build new freight carriages as well as to maintain and renew the existing carriage fleet.

Rustavskiy Carriage Building Plant not only produces railway carriages, but also maintains overhaul and renewal repairs for the Caucasian republics, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan as well as other countries.

Interpipe is one of the world’s largest producers of railway wheels and sells its wheels on foreign markets under the KLW brand. Interpipe fully satisfies its requirements of stock steel for railway wheels production with its own production facilities.

Michael Iskov, Director of Sales for Railway Wheels at Interpipe said:
“I’m delighted to announce that Interpipe has shipped the first 5,000 wheels with a diameter of 957 mm to Rustavskiy. These wheels are in compliance with GOST 10791-2004 requirements. It’s a large order that ensures that our production facilities at Interpipe NTRP, our wheels rolling workshop, will be working at increased capacity for several months.”
