OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2008. From 19 December 2008, Russian Railways will introduce a Lux carriage with superior comfort on the Polonaise No. 9/10 branded train service between Moscow and Warsaw, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

The Lux carriage has a bar and four double compartments with an upper berth and a sofa which folds out to make a large single bed. Each compartment is equipped with air conditioning, bathroom with shower and heated floor, a wardrobe, convertible table, soft armchair, liquid crystal television screens and a DVD player.

A single first class ticket per compartment costs EUR439.60 (single) and a second class ticket EUR339.60 (double).

The Polonaise Branded train No. 9/10 between Moscow and Warsaw resumed services on 27 May 2007.

Russian Railways and Polish Railways (PKP) each operate one train. Services run every day. The Russian Railways service departs from Moscow on odd days in December 2008 and in February, March, June, July, September and October 2009 and the PKP service on even days.

In January, April, May, August, November and December 2009 the Russian Railways service runs on even days and the PKP service on odd days.

Train number 9 / 10 Polonaise departs daily from Moscow at 16:50 and arrives at Warsaw Central at 08.40 the next day and from Warsaw Central at 15:30, arriving in Moscow at 11:45 the next day.

The journey time from Moscow to Warsaw is 18 hours 00 minutes and from Warsaw to Moscow 18 hours and 25 minutes. The train en route to Warsaw crosses the border at Brest during the night and in Terespol in the evening on the return leg.

The Russian Railways train has four second-class carriages with three berths in each compartment and one carriage with both first and second class compartments in addition to the Lux carriage with superior comfort.

The PKP train has five second-class carriages with three berths in each compartment and a first-class carriage with two berths.

All cars are equipped with environmentally friendly toilets.

Russian Railways operates a restaurant car on the Moscow - Brest - Moscow run and PKP a buffet car between Terespol - Warsaw - Terespol.

All carriages are designed to run at speeds of up to 200 kph.

The fare for first-class carriage is EUR148.20 and for a second class ticket EUR104.00.
