OREANDA-NEWS. On December 18, 2008 Re-certification audit of its Corporate Integrated Quality Control and Environmental Management System (QEMS) was successfully completed at OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter – MMC Norilsk Nickel or the Company), reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel.

The audit conducted by the independent certification agency Bureau Veritas Certification Rus at the corporate Head Office in Moscow and in the Polar Division (Norilsk) confirmed compliance with ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004.

MMC Norilsk Nickel was awarded its first ISO compliance certificate in 2005 and has maintained its status every year since. QEMS in its current format was adopted in July of 2007. Since that time the Company has reinforced integration of quality management and environmental aspects, defined and established vertical management lines across its different businesses and implemented a system of corporate audits.

Head of the auditors team Vladimir Tkachenko in his final report highlighted a number of improvements in the corporate performance and noted the viability of corporate management system allowing the Company to achieve its targets and comply in general with its established policies of quality management and environmental management.

Sergey Batekhin, First Deputy General Director of MMC Norilsk Nickel and representative of the management for the matters covering quality management, environment protection, labor safety and health protection, expressed his satisfaction with audit results and noted that QEMS, as a driver of continuous upgrade processes in the corporate management and production technology, made it possible for the Company to meet the highest quality standards set for its products thus enabling it to implement other environment protection measures in the regions where the Company’s operations are located.
