OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2008. Dmitry Medvedev instructed the Government to draw up proposals for establishing a Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) joint fund for assistance in recovering from the global economic crisis.

An agreement on setting up the fund with \\$10 billion in funds was reached at the informal summit of the Presidents of Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on December 19, in Kazakhstan. EurAsEC’s member states are Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, and Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine have observer status.

Russia will also take part in carrying out agreements on setting up a joint centre for advanced technology.
