OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2008.   SibCOTES has been granted a new patent for inventing the device to measure the flow rate of the agent (fluid or gas) transferred via large-diameter pipelines. The device developed by Yury Strizhko, Leading Engineer from SibCOTES, can be widely used in the automation of processes within a range of industries, including power industry, transport, and public services.

“Flow-meter” developed by Yury Strizhko, is based on the use of the results of pressure differentials measurement on a restriction installed in “smaller parts” of the pipeline flow area, equivalent diameter of which can reach 1/40 of the pipeline diameter. Structurally, the restriction is formed by a cylinder transducer and the walls of the channel where the transducer is installed. The new invention has demonstrated many advantages, e.g. flow-meter resistance does not depend on its high sensitivity. Other benefits include the following: low resistance due to small area for the transducer, practically no need in straight parts upstream and downstream the flow-meter, as well as reliability and simple maintenance of the device.
