OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2008. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) held a seminar in the Embassy of the Great Britain on competition policy in the Russian Federation and law-enforcement issues for the officials of the Embassy of the Great Britain and representatives of British companies, working in Russia, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Ms. Caroline Wilson, Minister Counsellor (Economic and Trade & Investment) of the Embassy of the Great Britain in the Russian Federation participated in the seminar.

The Head of FAS Russia Mr. Igor Artemiev made a report on competition policy in the Russian Federation.

In his report, the Head of FAS Russia enlightened key aspects of the application of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" and the Federal Law "On State and Municipal Procurement of Goods, Works and Services".

Some aspects of the amendments to competition legislation of the Russian Federation known as second antimonopoly package were debated, as well as the FAS Russia' activity in 2008.

Large attention was paid to issues of the application of the Federal Law FZ-57 "Procedures for Foreign Investments in the Business Entities of Strategic Importance for Russian National Defense and State Security", enacted in 2008.

The Head of the Department for Control over Foreign Investments of the FAS Russia Ms. Svetlana Levtchenko presented the information on the law-enforcement activities of the FAS Russia in the field of control over foreign investments in the business entities of strategic importance.

Besides, chief executives and heads of the Russian branches of Anglo-American, British Petroleum, De Beers, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Imperial Energy, Imperial Mining, JP Morgan, KMPG, Peter Hambro Mining Plc., Rio Tinto, REXAM, Rolls-Royce, UBS, Intera, Nornikel, Renova, Rusal, Russneft, SeverEnergia, Siberian Diamonds, Sibur, United Energy Company as well as representatives of international legal companies, working in the Russian Federation participated in the seminar.

Resuming the seminar, the participants expressed a desire to hold the meetings on the issues of competition law-enforcement on the regular basis.
