OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2008. The Government counts that Ukraine’s economy will develop, according to the medium-pessimistic scenario, and plans 0.4% GDP growth. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stated, presenting in the Verkhovna Rada the draft State Budget for 2009 and the Government’s Action Program.

According to the Prime Minister, the majority of developed countries of the world openly plan a drop in GDP dynamics. The other part – such as Russia, Poland, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia hesitate to make such pessimistic forecasts in their budgets.

Yulia Tymoshenko said that Ukraine had chosen the “medium-pessimistic way” of economic development, “We chose the medium-pessimistic way which can be real if the country at the level of – the Parliament, Government, President, NBU – begins to work well-coordinated and systemic”.

As the Head of Government stated if the state budget for the next year to be passed, there are all grounds to count on real dynamics of the 0.4% GDP.

“The forecast is quite optimistic regarding the situation all over the world. But at the same time, I think, the national elite of Ukraine would better set the higher task instead of certifying stagnation and work in order to prevent such scale stagnation in Ukraine in 2009,” Yulia Tymoshenko stressed.
