OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2008. TGR Enerji, Turkey-based subsidiary of Inter RAO, has been granted permission to import electricity from Russia via the territory of Georgia

TGR Enerji, Turkey-based subsidiary of Inter RAO UES, has been granted permission to import electricity from Russia via the territory of Georgia, reports Inter RAO.

The decision was adopted by Turkey’s committee on regulation of energy market on Dec 24 2008.

The decision implies relevant changes in TGR Energji’s license for wholesale electricity trade. The changes will be valid for one year.

According to the changes, Russian electricity will be imported to Turkey via the territory of Georgia: electricity will be supplied to an isolated area via Batumi (Georgia)-Hopa (Turkey) line whenever it is not used for export of Turkish electricity to Georgia.

Inter RAO UES is part of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation. The company sells electricity in Russia and abroad and owns energy assets inside and outside Russia.
