OREANDA-NEWS. January 15, 2009. According to NBM, as of December 31, 2007, NBM currency reserves amounted to US1 billion 333,68 million, as of late I quarter 2008 - US 1 billion 424,29 million and as of late I half of 2008- US 1 billion 525,95 million.

As of early August 2008, NBM currency reserves exceeded US 1,7 billion and as of late September 2008 reached new absolute historic maximum of US 1,8 billion. Subsequently, due to the global financial crisis, some reduction of the currency reserves of Moldova was observed.

Earlier the government planned that by late 2008, the boundary of US 1,7 billion would be exceeded.
