OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 January 2009 was announced, that in 2008, the industrial output in Ukraine fell by 3.1% vs. 2007, as reported by the State Statistics Committee.

In December 2008 vs. December 2007, the industrial output decline amounted to 26.6%, while as against November 2008 it grew 3.2%.

That year a significant fall in production was observed in steel making area – by 20.0%, coke and oil products – by 15.0%, iron – by 13.1%.

Meanwhile, a growth was registered in wood processing industry – by 9.6%, in machine engineering – by 8.6%, pulp and paper as well as publishing industry – by 7.3%.

In 2007 the industrial output in Ukraine surged 10.2% as against 2006.
