OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 January 2009 was announced, that Specialists of the museum the National Preserve of Tauric Chersonesos in Sevastopol together with their American colleagues from the Institute of Classical Archeology at the University of Texas at Austin carried out a project aimed at digitalization of the documentary fund of the Preserve. The project is being financed by The Packard Humanities Institute.

”This is a new practice of cultural heritage preservation. Unfortunately, time is cruel to many priceless drawings, manuscripts, negatives, engravings and books. That is why digitalization of all archives is so important for us.  But, during the work, we faced a problem of digitalized materials storage, since the old depository could not hold all the archives that have been accumulated in museum for many years. Luckily, the Sevastopol branch of PrivatBank, the old partner of the Chersonesos, provided the storage space for free”- says Leonid Marchenko, Director of the Preserve,- “Thanks to this project,  further generations will be able to feast their eyes upon inimitable values of the museum the National Preserve of Tauric Chersonesos  for centuries”.
