OREANDA-NEWS. On January 15, 2009 the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) found that the group of persons of "BaselCementPikalevo" CJSC violated Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition", reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The case was initiated upon a petition of "EVROCEMENT Group". "Metakhim" CJSC and "FosAGro AG" CJSC are brought into the proceedings as the interested parties.

The antimonopoly legislation was violated by stopping supplies of belite slurry (the raw material for cement production) to "Pikalevsky Cement" CJSC and reduced supplies of carbonate mud (the raw material for producing soda and potash) to "Metakhim" CJSC in 2008 despite valid supply contracts.

It resulted in stopping of cement production at "Pikalevsky Cement" CJSC and considerable reduction of production of soda and potash at "Metakhim" CJSC.

Representative of the Mining and Metallurgical Union of Russia, who took part in the session of the FAS Russia's Commission, investigating the case, emphasized that antimonopoly violations against the company that is the town major enterprise and principal employer inevitably cause social problems.

FAS Russia will prepare the decision and determination, aimed at eliminating the antimonopoly violations and their consequences, within the statutory period.
