OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2009. Vega Telecommunications Group has expanded operations and now is present in 40 cities. The integrated provider launched broadband internet access in Chernigov, Vinnitsa and Poltava, reported the press-centre of SCM.

So, today Vega provides communication services in 40 cities and towns and 2 settlements in 17 regions of Ukraine. The full gamut of services (fixed-line telephony, broadband internet access and data transmission) is provided in 37 populated places.

Vega has also launched fixed-line telephony with capacity of 5,000 numbers in Chernigov. This service is expected to be launched in Vinnitsa by the end of January.

Vega has invested UAH 3.3m in development of telecommunication infrastructure in three cities. It included laying fibre optic communication lines (FOL), purchase of telephone, network and transport equipment, interconnection to PSTN, installation of automatic telephone exchanges and construction of transportation and distribution networks.

Vega network development plan provides for the launch of services in Khmelnitsky, Uzhhorod, Rovno and Zhitomir in the coming months. "Our priorities in choice of cities are not accidental", says Konstantin Kolesov, Director of Business Development, Vega Telecommunications Group. "Our positions have been traditionally strong in the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine. For this reason, we've focused our efforts today on expansion in the central and western parts of Ukraine. This will help improve our positions as the biggest private fixed-line provider in the country".
