On 23 January 2009 was announced, that Parex banka has appointed Sergejs Medvedevs, Vice President, Business Development of Capital Markets, as Head of Capital Markets and Investment Banking Sector. Mr. Medvedevs replaces Martins Jaunarajs, who is, currently, looking at new personal endeavours.

It is our belief that in the leadership of S.Medvedevs the Capital Market and Investment Banking business of the Bank will be in good hands and will continue its successful development, as he has proved himself to be a highly valued professional in the fields of Capital Markets, Investment Banking and Asset Management,” says Chairman of Parex banka Nils Melngailis.

Sergejs Medvedevs has been with Parex Group since 1997. Currently, Mr. Medvedevs is Deputy Head of Capital Markets and Investment Banking and Vice President, Business Development of Capital Markets at Parex banka. Prior to that he held the position of First Vice President at Parex Asset Management and President at the Parex Investment Company, obtaining a broad experience in client portfolio management including investment and pension funds. Being the Head of Investment Product department from 1998 to 2002, S.Medvedevs established Custody Department, implemented several new investment products and was responsible for asset management services. He graduated with honors from the Riga Aviation University, Latvia in 1992 and studied Business Administration in the Riga College of Economics and Business Administration.

Mr. Jaunarajs, who has been with Parex banka since 2001, has been Senior Vice President covering capital markets and investment banking issues since January 2008, previously holding the position of a Managing Director in its Investment Banking Division since 2003. During his tenure, Mr. Jaunarajs’s has successfully managed numerous investment banking and capital markets deals. Currently, Martins Jaunarajs is looking forward to new personal endeavours, and does not exclude a possibility of returning to the Management team of Parex banka should the conditions allow.
