OREANDA-NEWS. On January 23, 2009 VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation even in the current not simple situation managed to arrange a trip to the Northern Navy for students of the sea cadet school during the winter holidays, reported the press-centre of VSMPO-AVISMA.

That was the Fleet Commander who invited the children. Why it became possible? And what links overland Verkhnaya Salda and the sea?

Last autumn Evgeny Romanov – the Head of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation - in one of the interviews said that children from Salda cadet school will visit the Northern Navy mariners by all means. Director General did not forget the promise. On his way back from a business trip to Boeing, the Director of VSMPO-AVISMA made a stop in Murmansk and arranged a trip.

And although there is no sea in the Urals, that was it what linked overland Salda and marine Murmansk. That was because children from the sea cadet school “The Cape of Good Hope” went to visit the mariners. This school is a joint project of VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation and the city administration. Here children from unhappy and disadvantaged families live and study.

One of the most vivid impressions from the trip was left by the naval ship “St. George”. It holds 225 troopers and 13 tanks! Its size seemed to the kids as a five-story building. They even stayed there overnight!
