OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2009. The Oktyabrsky Electric Railway Car Repair Plant has implemented its first contract with the JSC Lithuanian Railways (Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai), reported the press-centre of OEVRZ.

The plant performed KR-2 type refurbishment of 12 passenger coaches, model 47K, of the Lithuanian railways in April-December 2008. The repaired rolling stock was manufactured at the Kalininsky (Tverskoy) carriage works in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) in 1984-1988.

The refurbishment included painting with up-to-date materials, coating with special anti-graffiti lacquer, installing air-conditioning in some of the coaches, as well equipment for disabled persons, new metal-plastic windows, wear-resistant linoleum, environment-friendly WCs, illuminated information boards, new water boilers, and liquid coach heating systems.

The 12th coach of the batch was delivered to the Lithuanian customers on December 28, 2008.

The refurbishment of Lithuanian coaches is not the first experience of international cooperation for the OEVRZ. In 2006-2008, the plant refurbished and upgraded 29 sleeping coaches for the Kazakh railways.
