OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 February 2009 was announced, that damage inflicted by the bad weather in the Tver Region is worsened by deterioration of meteorological conditions. Sleet at the temperature of 0 to +3, when there is no wind, gathers on the trees and makes them fall on power transmission lines.

Despite operative actions of power engineers that in the morning of 29 January started rescue and recovery work, the weather rules the whole situation. Heavy wet snow breaks wires, increasing the number of new work sites with repair teams.

At 14.00, 29 January, bad weather caused blackouts at one hundred and thirty-two 10 kV power transmission lines and one thousand three hundred and eighty-nine 6/10 kV transformer substations (12% of the total number of transformer substations). One hundred and seventy repair teams are working in the damaged areas.

As a result, power supply of underpopulated districts in Nelidovsk, Rzhevsk, Vyshnevolotsk and Bezhetsk electricity network zones suffered most from the abrupt change of weather conditions.

Operative staff on liquidation of weather consequences headed by Chief Engineer Andrei Volgin is continuing its work in Tverenergo; the repair and recovery work is being executed under a strict control.

Power workers did their best to restore fully electricity supply in the region. Repair teams will work twenty-four hours a day.
