OREANDA-NEWS. February 4, 2009. Turkmen cotton growers actively prepare for the winter sowing campaign that is of paramount importance for the future of new ‘white gold’ harvest. According to Turkmenobahyzmat Association a major part of tillage machines, i.e. over 1,700 tractors are engaged in ploughing and other land improvement works. About 650 of them are high-powered John Deere and Case tractors.

Thousands of wheeled tractor-cultivators, for a larger part Belarus-80X are engaged in surface tillage. It should be noted that in the near future 300 high-powered Case tractors will replenish the fleet of agricultural vehicles that will be a great help for Turkmen machine operators.

At present, Turkmen agricultural workers in all the cotton growing regions of the country are engaged in watering fields. In Lebap and Dashoguz agricultural workers are engaged in watering saline soil. According to the Association, machine operators in Lebap, Ahal and Mary Velayat have achieved the best results in the field works, in particular land grading.

Six mechanical-repair enterprises affiliated with Turkmenobahyzmat Association and over 50 etrap subdivisions are engaged in repairing, renewing and adjusting sowing machines, cotton cultivators and other agricultural mechanisms and aggregates.
