OREANDA-NEWS. On February 02, 2009 in Kyiv in the framework of a four-day visit an official delegation of European football association led by UEFA General Secretary David Taylor got familiarized with the process of preparation of the National Sport Complex Olimpiysky for the Euro-2012 finals.

The inspection group, which also comprised the Euro-2012 director Martin Kallen, UEFA commercial director Philippe Margraff, head of sponsor committee and championship development Alan Ridley and head of Euro-2012 subdivision for organization of events Lucas Ackermann, first of all were satisfied by the changes which occurred recently on the NSC Olimpiysky.

The UEFA delegates attended the stadium and met with representatives of Ministry of Ukraine for Youth, Family and Sports chaired by Minister Yurii Pavlenko and personally convinced that reconstruction of the sporting arena is being held with high pace.

UEFA General Secretary David Taylor congratulated the team which reconstructs the Olimpiysky NSC on a significant progress and evaluated significant changes from the time of his last visit.

The UEFA inspection group got familiarized with the process of implementation of design and building and assembly works, with the system of management and financing the project of reconstruction the NSC Olimpiysky.

The Europeans received answers to the questions concerning consultation maintenance as well as scheme of organization of functional zones on the adjacent to the Olimpiysky NSC territory during holding the Euro-2012.

In the process of discussion David Taylor stressed that partnership relations, established during preparatory works to the championship, will contribute to the development of cooperation. On summing up the results of joint activity Taylor emphasized it was “a movement in the right direction”.

On completion of the meeting Minister of Ukraine for Youth, Sports and Family Yurii Pavlenko expressed his assurance the finals of European Football Championship of 2012 will take place just on the Olimpiysky NSC. Yurii Pavlenko stressed the Ministry fulfills all the tasks in gearing-up to the Euro-2012 in full and will do all the best the National Sport Complex is to be put in exploitation according to the schedules, agreed with the UEFA.
