OREANDA-NEWS. February 06, 2009. The high mark of General Secretary of UEFA David Taylor concerning the state of preparation of all Ukrainian cities which desired to host the finals of European Football Championship in 2012 is an answer to everyone, who expresses pessimistic forecasts in Ukraine and outside its borders.

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Ivan Vasiunyk commented on the results of official visit of UEFA experts to the state. Together with President of Football Federation of Ukraine Hryhoriy Surkis and Director of Executive Direction of Euro-2012 Ivan Fedorenko he accompanied the delegation in the cities.

According to Ivan Vasiunyk, the visit gave an opportunity to view the situation, to evaluate realization of plans with their own eyes, eyes of captious UEFA inspectors. “And just this view, from the outside has revealed where else we have to work according to the standards of football presentation,” the Vice Premier accentuated.

“Today all the six cities are involved into preparatory activity – four main ones and two reserve. Every of them has their problems and every of them has their advantages. But it is the UEFA who will say the last word,” Ivan Vasiunyk reminded.

“The result of their examinations will be represented by the UEFA in details, but we can admit now the exam was successfully passed by Ukrainian cities. The inspectors were convinced, in every of them stadiums are being built and comply with requirements of the Football Federation, airports are being reconstructed, comfortable hotels, roads, fan zones are being built. All these, in the aftermath the football feast is over, will remain to serve local residents. Such is the main objective of preparing and holding of the Euro-2012 in Ukraine,” the Vice Prime Minister explained.

According to him, by May 8 when 4 cities-hosts of the Euro-2012 are named officially, the plans of further preparation will be corrected.
