OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2009. "Alternative channels for bank products’ sales" is the title of a next in line contest of named scholarships established by AsiaUniversalBank, announced for students of Kyrgyz educational institutions, reported the press-centre of AsiaUniversalBank.

The contest, aimed to identify and encourage the most gifted students of economics has become a good tradition within the course of recent ten years. Scholarships at 3000 soms (some 70 US dollars) are delivered to students with the most impressive record on their core subjects, and having their own mindset on certain aspects of banking. This time the number of AsiaUniversalBank scholarship nominees was increased from 10 to 15 people.

Increased number of nominees corresponds to strategic priorities of the Bank in development of retail branch network, regional network and internal market as a whole. Financial expertise of population is increased in line with development of internal market, getting more people involved in financial life of the country. It ushers populations’ confidence in the financial system of the country growing, which is one of the basic elements of financial stability.

The contest for AUB scholarships is subject for the most successful third, fourth and fifth year students of major in finances, banking, business administration, management and economics.

 "Higher education support is one of the top priorities in AUB’s social mission. I’m sure we contribute to students’ better perception of their future profession and play our part in their smooth adaptation to professional relationship by developing their skills of critical thinking and independent analysis of real professional tasks.

Young aspiring specialists need encouragement so that stimulation of their own mindshare in the world of finance progresses. These students are possibly future high level banking professionals in the leading financial institutions of the country, including our bank.  It’s very promising that now every semester we can have not 10 but 15 students nominated for AUB scholarship, - said Aaly Umankulov, deputy CEO AsiaUnivesalBank.

The contest participation needs that the students provide:

filled-in questionnaire,

copy of academic performance list covering all the years of studies, authorized by seal of the educational institution

recommendations from the department or the dean’s office

One to three pages essay on Alternative channels of banking products sales.

The contest organizers raise hopes on essay results as these might open for students room for using their knowledge of the subject and expressing of their own original solutions of the task given.

Contest participation application forms are due March 6, 2009, at the AsiaUniversalBank headquarters at Togtogula st, 187, Bishkek.

Contest winners are announced on the 13 of March, 2009.

Following contest results a practical seminar will be held so that the students, teachers and bankers could jointly discuss problems and tendencies of the banking sector development in the Kyrgyz Republic.

A special scholarship contest is being announced by AsiaUniversalBank twice a year. The best 15 students of finances are to be announced winners. The scholarship established as a reward is at 3000 soms, paid within five months. Apart from the scholarship rewards, the winners can the subject for free apprenticeship period in AUB.  The scholarship contest dates back from 1999, with some 150 students  of Bishkek and regions having become its nominees. Some of the contest winners have later joined the Bank’s staff.
