OREANDA-NEWS. On 16 February 2009 was announced, that Moscow Centre for Extreme Sports to be raised on the basis of the existent ski resort in Orlovo village within Novo-Peredelkino township, west Moscow, is to have the area of over 230,000 square metres.

“It is stipulated by the design of a package of sports and recreation facilities in Novo-Peredelkino approved by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov,” a source from City Hall said.

The extreme centre was earlier announced to be the first and yet only facility of such a kind in Moscow.

The object is designed to be used for diving, water-skiing and underwater sports. It will host various summer and winter extreme sport events.

According to the official, besides Moscow Centre for Extreme Sports, it is planned to erect a 109,000-square-metre centre of year-round sports, a recreation complex for physically challenged people, a 37,000-square-metre hotel and Travel Laboratory centre for additional training of children in Novo-Peredelkino.

“The complex of sports and recreation facilities in Novo-Peredelkino will also comprise 22 cottages for large families designed to accommodate 220 people,” the source added.

The complex will be provided with underground car parks for 4,339 vehicles and 675 parking lots located near the objects.
