OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 February 2009 was announced, that all of metal storage sheds located within southwestern Moscow are to be demolished in 2009, they will be substituted by the public parking facilities.

“We plan to have the last 16,000 metal storage sheds occupying the yards of southwestern Moscow demolished this year,” First Deputy Moscow Mayor Pyotr Biryukov told journalists.

According to the official, a lot of such garages have been assembled above the engineering services and even on the carriage ways of Moscow. It became customary 10 years ago already. Now they hinder car owners in driving up to the residential buildings and impede the widening of roads.

“Therefore we decided to remove these metal garages and put up the public car parks instead of them,” Mr Biryukov noted.

The first deputy mayor didn’t fix a time frame when the decision will be implemented in the other areas of Moscow.
