OREANDA-NEWS. February 20, 2009. The waste recycling plant was put into operation in Ruhabat Etrap, Ahal Velayat. In accordance with the resolution of the President of Turkmenistan SEHIL Insaat Endustri ve Ticaret Limited Sirketi Company (Turkey) constructed the plant amounted to USD 30.816 million.

Construction of the waste recycling plant where household and medical waste will be sorted, utilized and recycled is an effective step to tackle the environmental problems in the region.

Putting into operation of the waste recycling plant will enable to solve the problem of utilizing solid wastes and establish the well-organized waste recycling infrastructure. The newly-built plant with the impressive capacity of 750 tons a day will meet the existing needs in recycling solid waste produced by the housing sector, healthcare establishments, commercial organisations, etc.

One of the major functions of the facility is to sort waste for further processing into different types of products. The hangar building with the area of 15,000 square metres was constructed for these purposes. Automated equipment produced by German Eggermann is installed there to sort solid wastes. Cardboard, paper, textiles, plastic are separated, placed on a conveyor belt spread out in a single layer and then baled. Ready bales are further reprocessed so that they could be reused as a source of raw materials with the minimal environmental impact and in the cost-effective manner.

The rest of waste products is transported to a magnetic separator which separates out ferrous metals, such as iron, steel, and tin-plated steel cans and transported them to a storage device where salvage is baled to be further delivered to the steelworks. Household wastes are ejected from the rest of the recyclate stream and transported to the tunnel with the capacity of 480 tons. Recycled waste is used to produce fertilizers.

A special shop utilizing dangerous medical waste is built in the territory of the waste recycling plant. ECODAS automated system which sterilizes and crushes this kind of waste is installed there.

Thus, putting into operation of the first-of-its-kind enterprise is another step to create the modern urban infrastructure and achieve the goals of the President’s environmental programme.
