OREANDA-NEWS  On 20 February was announced, that the amount of remittances to Moldova from individuals from abroad through commercial banks totaled USD 1 billion 660.06 million, according to the adjusted data, up 36.3 percent against that in 2007.

According to data of the National Bank of Moldova, over USD 1 billion 386.17 million or 83.5 percent of the total amount of money orders in January-December 2008 were received by means of quick money transfer systems. In comparison with the year of 2007, the amount of such transfers rose by 40.5 percent in 2008. 49.4 percent in the structure of remittances fell to the share of transfers in dollars, 44.2 percent – in euro, 6.3 percent – in Russian rubles. Their share made up 64.5 percent, 33.8 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively, in 2007. The largest amount of money transfers on the whole in 2008 came to Moldova in the third quarter - USD 506.51 million. Receipts in the first quarter totaled USD 320.67 million, in the second – USD 435.18 million, in the fourth – USD 397.7 million. In particular, the largest amount of money was transferred in July (USD 180.79 million) and August (USD 166.33 million). The least money were remitted in January - USD 89.72 million.
