OREANDA-NEWS  On 24 February was announced, that the National Bank of Moldova’s monetary reserves as of February 13, 2009 totaled USD 1 billion 448.52 million, down USD 28.87 million (2 percent) from the previous week.

As it has been reported earlier, as of February 6, the NBM’s monetary reserves totaled USD 1 billion 477.39 million. In January 2009, the National Bank’s monetary reserves reduced by USD 168.02 million (10 percent). As of December 31, 2008, the NBM’s monetary reserves totaled USD 1 billion 672.41 million. In 2008, the NBM’s monetary reserves rose by USD 338.72 million (25.4 percent). As of December 31, 2007, they totaled USD 1 billion 333.68 million. As of the end of the first quarter of 2008, monetary reserves amounted to USD 1 billion 424,29 million, as of the end of the first half-year of 2008 - USD 1 billion 525.95 million. In the beginning of August 2008, monetary reserves exceeded USD 1.7 billion, as of the end of September 2008 they reached a new absolute historical maximum of USD 1.8 billion. Later, in conditions of the world financial-economic crisis, a tendency towards somewhat reduction in Moldova’s monetary reserves was marked.
