OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 February 2009 was announced, that the RA Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan received the EC delegation, lead by Director Ms Ewa Synowiec from European Commission Directorate General for Trade.

The delegation included Mr. Philippe Cuisson, Europe (non-EU) and Central Asia, DG Trade, Mrs. Madeleine Majorenko, Deputy head of EC’s Directorate General for External Relations, Mr. Raul De Luzenberger, Charge d’affaires of the EC Delegation to Armenia. The meeting took place under the framework of EU’s fact –finding mission to Armenia. This mission is aimed at launching the future possible negotiations for a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with EU.

Nerses Yeritsyan stressed the importance of signing the Free Trade Agreement with EU for Armenia, and assured that the government of Armenia is ready to implement the institutional reforms and to build capacities. The Minister also emphasized, that FTA will give renewed impetus to the reforming process in Armenia, as well as provide the opportunity for euro- integration.

Ms. Ewa Synowiec informed Nerses Yeritsyan that after finishing the working visit in Armenia, the EU fact-finding mission’s members will prepare the summarizing report and present it for discussion to European Commission, and after that the steps for future cooparation will be elaborated.
