OREANDA-NEWS. On 05 March 2009 was announced, that as a result of the absentee voting by members of the Board of Directors of JSC Temirbank, a subsidiary of JSC BTA Bank, Mr. Yerzhan Shaikenov, a member of the Management Board since March 2008, was appointed Temirbank’s Acting Chairman of the Management Board today.

Mr. Shaikenov will be succeeding Mr. Ablakhat Kebirov.

The Board of Directors also voted to appoint Mr Marlen Zhakezhanov a member of the Management Board. Prior to this appointment, Mr Zhakezhanov had served as the head of the Internal Audit Service of JSC The Kazyna Sustainable Development Fund.

The board is confident that Temirbank will gain more market ground in 2009 thanks to, among other thing, implicit support from the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund.

Born in 1978, Mr Shaikenov graduated from the Kazakh State Academy of Management’s School of International Economic Relations. He also has an MBA in Banking and International Finance from the London, UK-based City University’s Cass Business School. Mr Shaikenov’s career had taken him from ABN AMRO Bank Kazakhstan and ATFBank, where he was responsible for project and corporate finance, to the posts of Vice President for Finance at Romat LLP and Director of Sales Department and Managing Director at Temirbank.

Mr. Zhakezhanov was born in 1969 and earned his MBA from the Almaty, Kazakhstan-based University of International Business. His previous experience includes the positions of Deputy Director for Supervision at Kazakhstan’s National Bank, Director of the Akmola regional branch, Director of the Taldykorgan regional branch and Director of Internal Audit at Halyk Savings Bank of Kazakhstan, Director of Internal Audit at Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Head of Internal Audit at Kazyna.
