OREANDA-NEWS. At the end of February 2009, official reserve assets made up LTL 14.7 billion (EUR 4.3 billion). Throughout February they decreased by LTL 290.4 million or 1.9%, reported the press-centre of Bank of Lithuania.

External liabilities of the Bank of Lithuania and central government deposits with the Bank of Lithuania which melted respectively by LTL 252.7 million and LTL 199 million pushed official reserve assets down. Official reserve assets also went down because of a decrease in net currency in circulation by LTL 130 million.

At the same time the reduction of official reserve assets was contained because of a hike in the deposits of MFIs with the bank of Lithuania and other factors respectively by LTL 197.4 million and LTL 94 million.

Official reserve assets data for March 2009 are to be released on 7 April 2009.
