OREANDA-NEWS. On 13 March 2009 was announced, that the Murmansk Alumina Terminal owned since May 2, 2007 by MCC EuroChem, OJSC officially changed the name to the Murmansky Bulk Terminal, LLC. The reason for that is the fact that the previous name reflected a narrow specialization of the terminate and did not correspond to those changes which had recently taken place upon modernization thereof and passage to a new type of cargo – iron-ore concentrate produced by Kovdorsky GOK, OJSC, also incorporated into the company EuroChem.

Creation on the basis of the Murmansk Alumina Terminal of an enterprises for transshipment of iron-ore concentrate allowed to MCC EuroChem, OJSC for significant expansion of the capacities of the terminate and for execution of technical re-equipment thereof.

At present the first stage of the project of modernization is completed, the terminal was put into operation and first 356.9 thousand tons of the new type of cargo has already been transshipped. In total in 2008 the volume of transshipment of all cargoes amounted to 691.4 thousand tons, at that, transshipment of the iron-ore concentrated commenced only in July 2008. Indicators of operation of the complex in comparison with 2007 increased in 2.7 times, in comparison with 2006 – 3.6 times.
