OREANDA-NEWS. On 18 March 2009 was announced, that according to preliminary 12 month statement, the size of direct written premium on voluntary medical insurance (VMI) reported by IJSC Ingosstrakh amounts to RUR4,371mln, or plus 33.3% over the level achieved in 2007. Over the period, the insurer entered into 44,022 VMI contracts. The number of clients attracted by Ingosstrakh to its VHI products exceeded 600,000. The insurer paid RUR3,379mln in coverage of its clients’ medical costs.

In four quarters 2008, Ingosstrakh entered into new contracts with 500 medical and preventive care facilities in Russia. The current list of partner medical facilities exceeds 3,000 operating throughout the country.

Last year the insurer expanded the coverage offered with a standard VMI service pack known to be the most extensive in the insurance market by including sexually transmitted diseases,  radiation sickness,  heart & blood vessel related surgeries, including ACB, and surgical treatment of cataracts (except the cost of artificial intraocular lens), immunization of children pursuant to the National Immunization Calendar. Moreover, it expanded the scope of home care services, there are no more restrictions as apply to massage, exercise therapy and manual therapy, therefore, all clients are eligible to comprehensive treatment as the case may be.

Mikhail Kopitaiko, Director of the Medical Insurance Department of IJSC Ingosstrakh, clarifies that the key goal for the near future is to sustain the positive development dynamics in the VHI sector above the average market rates and to increase the company’s share in this segment. One of the company’s priorities in VHI is to develop and offer convenient, reclaimed and transparent products, and to improve the service quality alongside with further development of retail VHI products.
