OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 March 2009 was announced, that Sibirtelecom and the Federal Agency for Communication signed two contracts for providing multipurpose services of telecommunication using public telephones on the territory of the Republic of Khakassia and the Altai Area. These contracts were signed according to the results of tenders for providing multipurpose services, which were won by Sibirtelecom on February 5, 2009.

Sibirtelecom OJSC became a winner in two lots of tenders for providing multipurpose services by offering the most profitable terms of the organization of communication services in the terms of the annual costs compensation from the fund of multipurpose servicing. 234 multipurpose public phones will be installed in the Altai Area and 56 multipurpose public phones – in the Republic of Khakassia within this project. According to the conditions of the competition, Sibirtelecom OJSC shall start providing multipurpose services on the territories under competition by August, 2009.

“Introduction of multipurpose services makes it possible to reduce the telecommunication gap between the city and remote settlements that virtually lack updated communication channels. It is one of the first-priority social projects realized by our company”, said Dmitry Selivanov, Director of Project Management at Sibirtelecom.

The company has been realizing the programme of development of the multipurpose service in Siberia since 2006. During that time Sibirtelecom became a winner in 64 lots of tenders for providing multipurpose services on the whole territory of the Siberian Federal District, excluding the Republic of Tyva. The company has installed 10,852 multipurpose public phones, including 1,691 phone in the Altai Area and 278 in the Republic of Khakassia.
