OREANDA-NEWS. On 24 March 2009 was announced, that Ingosstrakh paid about USD 273 500 of insurance compensation for damage and loss of freight because of collision with a sluice of Siderfly vessel.

On October 4, 2008, Siderfly vessel insured by Ingosstrakh IJSC under hull insurance policy with liability for totall loss and damage including loss of freight was traveling with a bulk load from the port of Kaliningrad (Russia) to the port of Immingham (UK). When the vessel entered the sluice, its fore collided with the corner puddening of the sluice. According to the report of the nominated surveyor, this resulted from the navigation error of the captain when the vessel was entering the sluice under difficult weather conditions. Examination of the damage showed that the bulwarks, ship skin and electric equipment of the vessel were seriously damaged and must be replaced, and a hole was detected in the fore.  Temporary repairs took place in the port of Immingham as monitored by the Classification Society. A crack in the ship skin was mended and a temporary reinforcement for damaged sections of the ship skin was installed.

After completion of the temporary repairs, the vessel was allowed to move to the port of Riga (Latvia), where the Bolderay dockyard repaired the vessel pursuant to the previously forwarded and approved quotation.
