OREANDA-NEWS. On 27 March 2009 was announced, that Belarus’ farm output increased 6.2% on the year in January-February to 2.2 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), a source in the Statistics Ministry told.

Agricultural companies and farms increased production 8.8%, while households’ output went down 8.6%.

Sales of fattened cattle and poultry rose 10.4% on the year in January-February to 179,600 tonnes, milk output rose 9% to 767,200 million tonnes, and egg output went up 0.4% to 378.8 million.

Return on sales of Belarus’ agribusiness reached 10.7% in January 2008, up from 9.4% in January 2008.

In January 2009, farms’ net profit reached 97.3 billion rubles, up 45.1% year-on-year. Net loss of 70 unprofitable farms was at 6.4 billion rubles, up from 2.7 billion rubles in January 2008. There were 103 loss-making farms in January 2008.

Overdue payables of Belarus’ agriculture were at 1.5 trillion rubles as of February 1, 2009, 19.4% of all payables. Overdue payables rose 27.7% over February 1, 2008, and exceeded overdue receivables 3.5 times.
