OREANDA-NEWS. On 27 March 2009 was announced, that in 2008 the enterprises of OAO Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK) produced 96.2 mln tonnes of coal, up 5.8% over the last year's figure. Except for the results of several mining companies detached from OAO SUEK after restructuring, the 2008 coal production amounted to 91.1 mln tonnes.

The 2008 sales amounted to 95.7 mln tonnes. Internal market sales increased by 8.5%. The Russian market consumed as many as 67.5 mln tonnes of coal, with 50.2 mln tonnes shipped to electric power industry. The growth of internal market sales was triggered by an increased demand for coal by a number of energy generating companies.

Foreign sales went up 9% and amounted to 28.2 mln tonnes of coal, with the Company's own coal exports reduced by 2% - down to 23.7 mln tonnes.  Primary foreign sale channels: UK, Korea, Japan, Denmark, Poland and the Netherlands.
