OREANDA-NEWS. On 30 March 2009 was announced, that Moscow’s city authorities are to help to fund the repair and restoration work on 16 churches and a mosque, a source from City Hall said.

According to the official, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov signed the decree stipulated that more than 182 million roubles (~USD 5.3 million) to be allocated in total. The means will be spent for repairing and restoring 15 Orthodox churches, a Baptist church and a mosque.

In particular, the money will be used to repair a refectory block of the Stavropigialny Convent of the Conception and Derbenyovo’s Church of Prelate Nikolay Mirlikinsky. Besides, the Convent of John the Precurser will get the means to restore the Father Superior Building and the Cathedral of the Beheading of the John the Precurser.

The money will be also transferred to the mosque on Bolshaya Tatarskaya Street and the Baptist church on Malyy Tryokhsvyatitelsky Lane.
