OREANDA-NEWS. On 30 March 2009 was announced, that according to preliminary statistics for 2008, comparative analysis of Russian flour exporters to the countries of near abroad shows that PAVA is the leading company in supplying Afghanistan with flour. Specialists estimate that the company’s share in total flour shipments to the Republic stood at 42% - the figure followed far behind by other major millers in Russia.

The market of Afghanistan has been among the priority ones for PAVA ever since the company chose to strengthen its exporting activities. Products of the Altay grain processor are popular with Afghan customers, as they are marked by high quality and are greatly suitable for baking national pancakes.

Collaboration started from shipments of second-grade flour; later, however, the rising standards of living in the Republic increased the number of contracts for first and even high grades. “Zhitnitsa”, the innovative product with unique health benefits was another welcome addition to the assortment. Overall, in 2008 PAVA commercial sales to Afghanistan amounted to 8,211 tonnes of flour.

Importantly, these statistics do not include humanitarian aid shipments in the line of UN WFP. In end-2008 PAVA supplied Afghanistan with 3,134 tonnes of fortified flour, manufactured using a special technology required by international quality standards. The company states that intensive co-operation with Afghan partners will be maintained in the future.
