OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2009. Ruhubelent JSC of the Food Industry Association of Turkmenistan started the tomato campaign. Tomatoes are planted out in open ground. By tradition, the elders of the Ruhabat Etrap blessed the beginning of the agricultural works.

By mid April 22 million saplings grown in the special cassette incubators in the hothouses of Ruhubelent JSC will be planted in the 600-hectare area. To grow high-quality seedlings local specialists use the seeds of such tomato varieties as Benita, Polfas, Polbik and Torquay produced by the famous Dutch companies.

This year the enterprise has concluded the contracts with dozens of farmers who will take care of the tomato plantations and harvest tomatoes. Under the contracts the enterprise is to provide seedlings, fertilizers and agricultural equipment to farmers.

The leading enterprise of Turkmenistan’s food industry – Ruhubelent JSC applies the advanced technologies of tomato growing and processing. Over the past years local specialists successfully used the advanced methods of watering – trickle irrigation combined with application of mineral fertilizers. This year Ruhubelent JSC is planning to produce 30 tons of tomatoes that will allow increasing the production volume and broadening a range of products. Today Ruhubelent JSC produces two kinds of ketchup, eight kinds of juices and a variety of marinades. This month Ruhubelent JSC has sold the products to the sum of 3.6 million denominated manats that is 120 percent higher as compared to the same period of 2008.
