OREANDA-NEWS. On March 30, 2009 Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stated that the Government begins holding special meetings on every direction of cooperation with Japan. The Head of Government disclosed this at a press conference.

Yulia Tymoshenko noted that an action plan on every infrastructure project would be approved at meetings that would take place already beginning Thursday, “I will allow no one, no local, no central authorities to deviate from this strategic direction. We must give the citizens of Ukraine the reconstructed, updated system of their life support and I believe we will succeed”.

The Prime Minister noted that 23 memorandums and 3 protocols of mutual cooperation of the two countries had been signed in Japan and added that during the year several such powerful projects can be already launched in Ukraine.

In particular, according to the Head of Government, a 4bn UAH credit line is launched through the state export-import bank Ukreximbank to finance the reconstruction and modernization of all engineering systems of Ukraine and a memorandum, taking into account all the necessary preconditions on big Japanese investment risks coming to Ukraine, is signed with the Japanese insurance company Nexi.

Yulia Tymoshenko noted that practically all the Japanese companies expressed a wish to adapt “their technologies and know-how” at the Ukrainian industrial enterprises. So, a part of equipment will be delivered to Ukraine from Japan and the production of other part the Japanese companies will adjust at the Ukrainian enterprises, including state-owned.

The Prime Minister noted that the started cooperation is profitable for both countries because Japan profits from investing to Ukraine where the energy saving, ecological pollution control due to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, harmful substances to atmosphere make a profit and Ukraine obtains the updated and reconstructed energy communal system, “and we also profit from energy saving – we will have a stronger economy and much purer ecology”.

The Head of Government also noted that this cooperation has an intergovernmental support, “Support of the two governments, support of the financial institutions, state-owned banks of Ukraine and Japan will give us hope for powerful modernization and reconstruction of Ukraine”.
