OREANDA-NEWS. On 31 March 2009 was announced, that Valdis Dombrovskis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, held a meeting with more than 30 foreign mass media representatives, thus establishing a new tradition – a regular communication with foreign mass media which are accredited in Latvia. During the discussions, the Prime Minister informed the foreign journalists about Latvia’s possibilities for overcoming the crisis, and the priorities of the new Government, including the reduction of the budget. V.Dombrovskis also informed about the current issues discussed among the European Union heads during the meeting of the European Council on March 19 – 20, as well as about the planned visit to the Federal Republic of Germany and the meeting with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The foreign mass media were mostly interest in issues dealing with the budgetary amendments, the economic and financial areas, as well as the social and political processes in the public in the context of topical reforms.

Thirty-two representatives of 20 mass media from 16 countries participated in the meeting with V.Dombrovskis.
