OREANDA-NEWS. On 31 March 2009 was announced, that “12 centuries of Japanese calligraphy: from the 8th to the 21st century” was the name of the Day of Japanese writing held in the Contemporary museum of calligraphy. The well-know calligraphers belonging to the Shodo school Hirose Syoko and Takefusa Sashida surprised the audience with their high skills. Over 60 lovers of calligraphy came to enjoy this ancient art, which is considered the finest in Japan.

For 12 centuries already the Japanese censeis have been amazed the whole world by their calligraphy symbols, bearing not only the artistic features, but also the deep philosophic meaning. Each line has its own conceptual filling, every brush stroke creates beauty. Syoko and Sashida pulverized the audience with their energy. They were writing the hieroglyphs with such emotionality that only Japanese masters can bear.

As the great Chinese calligrapher Mr. Chen Wenfu told us, Japanese calligraphy differs greatly from the Chinese one. He came to the master-class of his colleagues from Japan got to know many new things about calligraphy. For instance, Mr. Chen Wenfu told that the Japanese calligraphy differs from the Chinese one not only by brushes, the width of brush strokes, but also by a special artistic impression.

Having spent three hours at the national Japanese performance the people very unwillingly left the Musuem, and all of them were happy about how they had spent the evening. The masters appreciated very much the interest that the Russian audience showed towards their art, the visitors were cheered up by a special spirit of fine art, and the journalists made a top-news material. And, what is very important, the Contemporary museum of calligraphy received some new masterpieces for its rich collection.
