OREANDA-NEWS. On 02 April 2009 OJSC “MegaFon”, the first all-Russian mobile operator and LLC “RusChudo” (www.ruschudo.ru) announced the launch of the project “Bird’s-eye View on Russian Wonders”.

The project “Bird’s-eye View on Russian Wonders” starts in Murmansk. MegaFon’s air balloon and airship (by the way, the biggest in Russia) will fly over the clouds once again in order to capture historical and cultural sites of our country from a new perspective.

The aircrafts equipped with the most modern video facilities will fly over the memorial to the defenders of the Soviet Polar Regions (“Alesha” - http://www.ruschudo.ru/miracles/81.html). Alesha’s sculpture, 35.5 meter high, stands on the seven-meter-high basement. In the evening the sculpture of the soldier is illuminated by powerful lamps.  The monument was opened in 1974, and on May 9, 1975 an Unknown Soldier was buried in front of it and the eternal flame was set up in a ceremonial procedure.

The project aims at revival of patriotic feelings and love for our Fatherland, and attracting attention to restoration and   preservation of unique historical, cultural and natural sites on the territory of Russia.  Within the three nearest years MegaFon’s aircrafts will fly over 49 sites like this one.

Expeditions in 12 subjects of the Russian Federation and filming of 14 natural and historical monuments are planned for 2009.

Filming while flying over historical and natural monuments will allow best use of the “live map” effect.   Interchange of the cartographic representation and “live” video makes perception more emotional and information-intensive.

Media partners of the project are Channel “Rossiya”, Russian information channel “Vesti”, the “Izvestiya” newspaper, Internet-portals vesti.ru, izvestia.ru, ruschudo.ru.
